Alaska Natural Resource Month and Junior Achievement Unite

Picture
Junior Achievement of Alaska (JAA) has partnered with Alaska Natural Resource Month to help promote natural resource education and economic education in Alaska’s classrooms statewide.

Junior Achievement of Alaska has been approached by many organizations and received feedback from past classroom volunteers that the effectiveness of the national programs would be greatly enhanced with a lesson on Alaska’s economy.  This collaborative effort helps both organizations educate and inspire Alaska’s students to understand the unique opportunities that exist in Alaska, and brings together the business world and educators in the classroom.  JA has had a 40 year track record of success in Alaska, and some of the benefit of JA include:

  • Students that experience JA are more likely to graduate from high school;
  • 90% of educators believe JA helps prepare young people for success after graduation;
  • 95% of students believe JA helped prepare them for life after graduation.
  • JA’s curriculum aligns with Common Core and Alaska State Learning Standards
  • JA is on track to reach 8,500 students in 43 Alaskan communities this school year

As an influential member of the community, your company’s investment can help ensure that students in Alaska are receiving the benefit of JA’s economic education program, as well as educated about the important role that resources like oil and gas, tourism, mining, timber, etc. play in the Alaskan economy.
